How to play online blackjack?

First you choose how much you want to bet and then the croupier deals the cards.

The purpose is to have a better hand than the dealer while getting as close to 21 as possible without actually exceeding this number.

The value of your hand equals the value of your cards. The main question remains: do you take another card or do you stand? One card can make all the difference!

The cards and their value

To help you on your way, you can find here the value of the various cards in the deck:

  • An ace: 1 or 11, depending on the player’s choice;
  • The cards 2 to 10: the number indicated on the card;
  • The jack, the queen and the king: 10.
  • The best result is to get 21 points with only 2 cards. This is called Blackjack

Some blackjack terminology

  • Insurance: if the dealer’s first card is an ace and you think they’ll get blackjack, you can take an insurance. You then pay half of your initial stake. If you are right, you’ll double this amount. If the dealer doesn’t have blackjack, you'll lose this stake.
  • Double down: after you’ve received 2 cards, you can decide to double your initial stake. Once you’ve done this, you can only draw 1 extra card.
  • Surrender: when the players and the dealer have received their first 2 cards, you have the possibility to leave the game and surrender. If you do so, you get 50 % of your initial stake back.
